My passion for photography comes from a deep desire to express my love of nature. It is also a personal development journey – a journey that continuously challenges and helps me improve my creative, artistic and storytelling abilities.
Landscape photography provides me with an avenue to really connect with nature, to appreciate the incomparable, exquisite, and unparalleled beauty that surrounds us. To be out in the natural world among the mountains, the trees, the lakes, and even the cities and parks we have built is one of life’s most satisfying things. Nature is my sanctuary. The ability to articulate these places and experiences in photographs and express them as art is how I show my gratitude, feel grateful and stay connected to the things that are important to me.
During the pandemic I embarked on a personal 365-day journey – posting one photograph every-day for 365 days. This journey has greatly expanded my understanding and appreciation of the finer points of photography, particularly as an art form. What does it mean to capture the moment-, to capture the feelings-, to capture the inherent beauty? I am fascinated by the play of light, reflection, and movement; by the mood and beauty in nature - which I define loosely as everything that surrounds my daily existence.
I strive to improve my understanding of this art form every time I pick up the camera. There is a lot more for me to learn and these images are only a beginning.

I love the golden hour and many of the photographs are taken around sunrise and sunset. One never knows what the lighting conditions will be, until you are ready to take the photograph. Here an understanding of the various camera settings and how they impact the image become important. My goal is to capture the "moods" and the "feelings" that are invoked by what I am seeing. It never fails to amaze me, how visiting the same location at sunrise or sunset on different days brings up different emotions, different connection to nature.
I hope you can share some of these emotions through my photographs.
My equipment and technique are very basic. I use a digital SLR camera with a variety of
lenses. I prefer to use a limited number
of high-quality lenses, mainly in the 14mm to 70mm range. I find this adequate for landscape
photography. I rarely use lighting
equipment or filters – preferring to capture the natural beauty as presented by
the location, day, and time of the photograph. I edit the photographs in Adobe Lightroom – mainly to bring
out the “mood” I was experiencing when taking the photograph.
